| Description |
This module introduces the participant to the Treasury/Funds Management Function of a bank. A key segment of any financial institution, the Treasury or Funds Management Group or Department is primarily responsible for the overall liquidity and investment opportunities of the bank. To accomplish this main task, it is imperative that Treasury interfaces with other operating departments of the bank, such as loans, branches, and operations as these departments need to work hand in hand with each other to ensure the bank's liquidity and profitability. The three day course is designed to educate the participant on how Treasury functions and performs relative to its main objective – liquidity. Capping the module is a bourse game or simulated commercial and interbank trading of securities and foreign exchange, inclusive of maintenance of reserve management, with Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas as the center of the bourse game. Grouped as a bank, the participants will have an actual feel of the market scenarios and will be dealing with other groups formed as other banks. In the end, with the knowledge acquired from the lectures and tested in the actual trading floors, the participants will be able to achieve the objectives set forth below. |
